If you’re having trouble getting motivated to exercise then it may be time to find a workout partner. Who’s better than the one you spend the most time with? Your wife or girlfriend! Ok tough guys, I know. The idea of working out with your lady sounds lame, but the truth is … you can get a lot done together. You’ll also make sure you’re both on the same page with your fitness and can keep each other motivated inside and out of the gym.

Reasons to exercise together

  • Quality time: We’re busy and we don’t always get to spend enough time with the ones we love. Exercising together is a great way to get a little extra QT with your girl.
  • Pride: Taking care of your body shows that you care about your health and want to look good for your significant other.
  • Motivation: It feels good to get encouragement from your sweetie and is a great way to keep you both motivated to keep up the good work.
  • Bonding: Exercise produces chemicals that reduce stress, make you feel happy, and increase libido. Studies have shown that couples who exercise report having more frequent sex with their partner.

Now that you know the benefits of working out with your partner, the question is … what types of exercises should you do? Chances are you have different fitness levels and separate goals. The trick is to find exercises you can both be challenged with and benefit from. Try some of these options.

  • Fitness classes are designed to accommodate different levels of fitness, so you can both get exactly what you need.
  • Stretching with your partner is a great way to improve flexibility and get physically closer.
  • Find two cardio machines next to each other, so you can both work at your preferred intensity.
  • Walking at the end of the day to catch up on life helps digest food, reduce stress and allows for a little romance too. Hold hands!
  • Circuit trainingis a perfect way for you both to do your weight lifting at the same time. You can both do the exact same exercises; just pick weights that work best for each of you.I know the guys, you were wondering where the weights were going to fit in all of this.
