Walking Dead Workouts: Andrew Lincoln as Rick Grimes

Nearly seven million people have become viewers of  AMC’s highly rated series The Walking Dead. As the leader of the zombie or walker-fighting pack is British actor Andrew Lincoln who plays Deputy Sheriff Rick Grimes. Not only has Lincoln brilliantly ditched his English accent for a true southern drawl, he perfectly personifies a very athletic and capable man on a mission. Determined to protect his kids and his chosen family, Rick is athletic, strong and has a unique ability to hang in there during long drawn-out fights. Andrew Lincoln makes this a realistic task by putting in the hard work behind the scenes.  By using different types of training combined with his enjoyment of running, Lincoln stays fit for it all.

1. Long distance running. Andrew Lincoln keeps his endurance high for long work days by taking nice, long runs. According to Men’s Health, Lincoln recently ran a marathon with his mother!

2. Resistance training. Although Lincoln has never been a frequent gym-goer, he trains with free weights performing compound movements to maximize his results. He trains to retain and increase his muscle mass while balancing out his long distance runs.

3. Carb cutting. To be as lean and strong as possible, our favorite deputy sheriff cuts down on the amount of sugars and other unhealthy carbs he consumes.
