U.S. Olympic Figure Skater Gracie Gold: Relying on Herself for Gold

By February 12, 2014March 28th, 2022No Comments

Gracie Gold has a name worthy of an Olympic medal, and this week earned her the first of presumably many with a bronze in the figure skating team free skate event. Gold, at only 18 years of age, participates in her first Olympics this year and has already made a splash for which many believed she had the potential to accomplish.

Not surprisingly for someone as determined as Gracie Gold, she has always been her own biggest critic. Growing up, Gold was hesitant to participate in team sports; she never wanted anyone else to rely on her abilities, as incredible as they were and obviously still are.

This week in Sochi, though, Gold has set aside her fears and beautifully nailed all 11 of her jumps in what undoubtedly helped the United States to secure a bronze medal in the inaugural team skating event.

Look forward to seeing Gracie Gold in the near future, though, as this young figure skater is sure to assert dominance this month and for years to come.

Cliché as it may sound, the name says it all.
