How much weight have you lost? 120 pounds
Tell us what the “old you” used to be like. Before I began my weight loss journey, I was depressed, had no confidence in myself, and never loved who I was.
What prompted your weight loss? I was tired of the person I was, and how my life had turned out.
How did you lose the weight? I first took small steps, but as I progressed, I learned it wasn’t just about exercising or healthy eating habits, but both of those together create the lifestyle change needed for a more fit and healthy life.
How long did it take? Nine months, but I’m far from my goal.
What was the hardest part? Waking up early enough to get to the gym.
The most fun part of your weight loss? Realizing who I always envisioned in the mirror was finally beginning to look back at me.
Most rewarding experience? Having people tell me I’m an inspiration for them. I never thought my weight loss journey would motivate others.
Who/what inspires you when you feel like quitting? Knowing that others are watching me so closely keeps me pushing each and every day.
How has this weight loss changed your life? My life is completely changed. I am now confident, strong, and happy with who I have become. It’s almost hard to explain in some ways, but let’s just say I don’t recognize myself anymore in all the good ways.
Have any advice for others who’d like to lose weight? Stop waiting. Stop making excuses. I did both of those for too long. Don’t worry about not knowing what to do. I began with walking 30 minutes a day on the treadmill. I now do 1.5 to 2 hours in the gym. I ran my first 5k on May 14 with a 33:33 time, and I’m running my second 5k on June 2nd.
Your must-have fitness equipment. Weightlifting equipment and at least a treadmill.
Favorite training song: Weightlifting is anything rock/metal. Running is the Guardians of the Galaxy Awesome Mix Vol. 1 and 2.
Favorite healthy food: Riced Cauliflower, steamed broccoli, and grilled chicken.
Favorite not-so-healthy food: Pizza and Mexican.
Future goals: I want to run my first 10k in September this year and my first half marathon at the Dark Side Challenge at Walt Disney World.
Anything else you’d like to add? No matter what, grit and grind to your finish line each and every day, because you are stronger than you think.
