In this series, Surprising Ways to Slash 500 Calories, we discuss a variety of ways you can easily eliminate 500 calories from your daily routine resulting in an easy weight loss of one pound per week. You may not even think these food or beverage items “count”, but they do. Our job is to help you in your weight loss goals and even if you were to burn one less calorie day; it would add up over time.
It’s that time again. March has crept in and I know what you’re thinking. It’s time to do that wonderful thing that some of us hate to do and some of us love to do. It’s called SPRING CLEANING! The task of the year that involves cleaning our entire house from frontwards to backwards, inside and out, and maybe clean the third dimension if it needs to be cleaned! Now, this isn’t necessarily a bad thing if we’re trying to burn some calories on the way.
Referring to an earlier edition of this series, we can see how even small cleaning activities can easily burn off calories. Imagine how many you’ll burn once you start pushing around furniture, climbing ladders for dusting and taking those filthy windows to task. Cleaning shouldn’t be the bulk of your exercise; it simply can’t do enough for your heart, lungs and major muscles. However! It can torch a bunch of calories when done with purpose. Hopefully it will serve as extra motivation to know while your purging the dust and junk from your house, you’ll be purging some extra chunk from your body!
