Next time you’re at the gym, hop on the treadmill and give the incline a shot. Walking on a flat surface serves it’s purpose of burning calories at a steady rate, but most would be surprised that adding the incline into the mix allows your body to burn up to %60 more calories during your workout. Walking uphill is simply harder that walking on a flat surface and requires your muscles to exert more effort. Makes sense, right?
- Be sure to maintain good, upright posture during this workout, so that you don’t strain your back.
- Warm up for about 10 minutes before adding the incline to get your muscles ready.
- Start by alternating walking on an incline and walking on a flat surface. You’ll work your way to full-blown incline workouts eventually!
