We know you often barely have time to fit a workout in to your day. But with some motivation and a little creativity, you can squeeze in some exercise to your busy schedule.  But your workouts cause you to sweat, and sometimes blow drying wet hair can be all the deterrent you need to skip a run or class. While a quick towel off and some deodorant will help your body, your hair may be left to look wet, greasy, and basically like a hot mess.  Instead of sucking it up and going about your day with some bad hair, try a dry shampoo for an on-the-go quick hair wash that really works!

Dry shampoo has a powder base that comes in either a loose powder or a spray can.  When you finish a workout, you simply spray the aerosol can or apply the powder throughout your hair.  With either form, it’s important to massage the dry shampoo into your hair using your fingers, or comb your hair after applying it.  This helps the dry shampoo to spread out evenly and absorb all of the oils and dirt which have accumulated during your workout.

After a simple comb out or massage, dry shampoo will leave your hair looking refreshed and clean!  Using dry shampoo after workouts is a great way to save time on showering and create clean, healthy looking hair.  So why use dry shampoo only after exercising?  Showering daily is good hygiene, however, over-washing your hair can lead to dry hair that easily breaks, or faded hair color.  While we still recommend rinsing off in the shower daily (especially if you have worked out), maybe wash your hair in the shower every other day and use the dry shampoo on the days in between.  This will help keep your hair clean and preserve your color, without drying out your scalp and hair.

You may be worried that you can’t use a dry shampoo if you have treated your hair at the salon.  Fear not! Things like keratin treatments, Brazilian blowouts, and color have no effect on whether or not you can use dry shampoo.  Because dry shampoo is a powder base that simply absorbs oil, it doesn’t contain harmful chemicals or sulfates that can damage salon treatments.  Since the salon usually tells you to avoid washing your hair for several days after initially treating it, dry shampoo is actually a great option to keep your hair looking clean during that period!

You can find dry shampoos at your local convenience stores or superstores such as Walgreens, CVS, Target, and Walmart.  If you are a modern, busy and active person, dry shampoo is the perfect solution to a quick cleanse that will leave your hair looking great in seconds!
