Why do you attend fitness classes and lift weights? I like to keep my body in shape and try all different types of workouts, from group fitness to group training to weight lifting.
How long have you been working out? I started working out and lifting weights in middle school and high school to stay in shape for the sports I played, and I’ve continued since.
Do you compete in anything? Not yet, but I would love to try an obstacle race of some kind eventually.
Most challenging aspect of staying fit: The most challenging aspect is making time and prioritizing going to the gym rather than doing something else.
Most fun aspect of attending fitness classes and lifting weights: The most fun aspect is trying different group fitness classes and learning new workouts.
Most rewarding aspect of exercising: The most rewarding aspect is when you push yourself past the limits of what you think you can do and accomplish something you had never done before.
Who/what inspires you when you’re feeling weak? I’m inspired by my friends that are always working out and continue to push me to do the same.
Advice for others who’d like to get started: I would say to find a friend that goes to the gym and go with them. They will be happy to help you get started and it will make it less intimidating your first time.
Your must-have equipment for group fitness: None. There are many workouts you can do without any weights, so being able to improvise with what you have is important.
Favorite training song: None. I like all types of upbeat music when I work out.
Favorite healthy food: Yogurt and smoothies.
Favorite not-so-healthy food: Chips.
Funniest /weirdest/most awkward experience in group fitness classes: I always feel awkward in any type of dance class like Zumba. I have almost no rhythm so anything that requires dancing is extremely awkward.
