Fashion Designer Isaac Mizrahi knows his stuff when it comes to dressing your best. He’s a master of decorating bodies of all shapes and sizes in a flattering way, and can bring out the gorgeous in anyone – including you! Isaac’s book, How to Have Style, is an easy read with very specific guidelines for women to take their wardrobe from drab to fab. My favorite section has six smart suggestions on what to wear if you’re carrying around more weight than you’d like or would like to mask problem areas. They’re really quite simple and if you utilize them, you’re sure to see a difference.
- Wear black.
- Wear tight undergarments like a long bra or Spanx for a leaner line.
- Dress in a monochromatic scheme. Choose one color and wear it head to toe.
- Wear high heels. The higher the better!
- Choose Jackets, dresses, and blouses with tailored shoulders. If you’re narrow waisted, wear a belt to emphasize your tiniest part. If you don’t have a defined waist, buy Empire dresses that are fitted just below the bust.
- Make sure the hem of your skirts fall at the slimmest part of your leg, either below the calf or just above the knee.
Along with these slimming suggestions, Isaac doles out a dose of advice regarding your emotional efforts. He wisely says, “Remember this: No one is looking at your imperfections; they’re all too busy worrying about their own.”
