Did you survive “The Great Ticket War” and nail down some Taylor Swift’s The Eras Tour tickets? While that is a feat in and of itself, there are a few things to consider before you attend. Over the years, there have been several medical emergencies at concerts, but there are ways to try and avoid accidentally having one yourself. A typical concert may last 2-3 hours, including openers. But, for the Eras Tour, the entirety of the event lasts about five and a half hours.

Stay Hydrated
The most common issue at concerts is not having enough water. Luckily, at The Eras Tour, you won’t have to worry about losing your spot because everyone has assigned seating. So, don’t be scared to listen to your body. If you feel light-headed or dizzy at all, these can be two clear signs of your body trying to tell you to hydrate. As mentioned in a report from the University of Missouri, every body type is different and needs different amounts of water, but the cardinal rule is to drink about six to eight cups of water a day (Stone, 2022). According to the equation on U.S. News & World Report, you can also multiply half your body weight, and that number with be the ounces of water you should be drinking in a day (Elkaim, 2013). However, since you will be singing, dancing, and moving around a lot, you may not retain all the water, so be sure to be mindful of the fact you may need to rehydrate.

Stay Mindful About What You Are Consuming
Aside from drinking water, adults may want to enjoy an alcoholic beverage. Alcohol can dehydrate you or make you feel sick, so make sure you also start your day with something nutritious and eat while you are there if you can! According to the Center for Healthy Eating and Research, it is recommended not to go longer than five hours between meals (Caceres, 2017).

What Are You Wearing?

A popular trend among Swift’s fans, also known as Swifties, is to dress to impress! Walking in, you will see many fans choosing an “era” and dressing up! The Eras you can expect can include the Debut of Taylor Swift, Fearless, Speak Now, Red, 1989, Reputation, Lover, Folklore, Evermore, or Midnights! Many fans across social media platforms express that dressing up for the concert feels as if they are “healing their inner child.” So pick your era and find your brightest, sparkliest, or most overstated outfit, and maybe Swift herself will spot you in the crowd!
