We recently featured all of the Republican American Presidential candidates because as a unit … they look like they take pretty decent care of themselves. Of course appearances can be deceiving, but this group looks both trim and sturdy. Promising to find out what these candidates actually do for fitness, we were delighted to find that Texas Governor Rick Perry actually has the goods to run any race he chooses, and run it well. He’s a regular runner who’s participated in tons of races to boot. You can view his unclaimed race results below which I found here, but you can also keep up with Rick’s running schedule by just following him on Twitter @GovernorPerry. There, he frequently references his runs with his dogs, soldiers and more. Knowing that those who may soon run this great country regularly invest in their health, is a great indicator that they’ll at least have the strength and stamina to keep up with the relentless work requirements of this powerful position. We don’t know whether he does or doesn’t do more than running, but our recommendation would be to supplement his runs with some strength training and stretching.
***We can assume that the first Rick Perry (31 years old) on the 2010 Turkey Trot list is not the Governor. The others … yep, they’re probably Governor Perry’s stats.
