Fitz Koehler: A Fighter, A Motivator, and A Champion

Fighting cancer is one of the toughest battles anyone can face. It’s an uphill fight that many, unfortunately, don’t win. But as we continue to learn more about combating the disease, we also uncover the power of attitude and mindset in overcoming adversity. When cancer decided to challenge Fitz Koehler, it had no idea the strength, resilience, and determination it was up against.

Fitz is a powerhouse. From her early days as a competitive kickboxer to her career coaching kids, corporations, and athletes, she has dedicated her life to helping others push past their limits. If you’re a runner, you might already know her as the voice that gets you pumped at the start line and cheers you on as you cross the finish. As one of America’s leading race announcers, Fitz has been a source of motivation for countless marathoners across the country, making them feel like champions in their own right.

But when breast cancer threatened to take away everything she had built, Fitz had to become her own biggest cheerleader. Diagnosed less than seven weeks after a clean mammogram, she endured 16 months of aggressive chemotherapy, radiation, and surgeries, all while continuing to travel the country, announcing races, and spreading her infectious energy. Her story is not just about survival but about the relentless pursuit of joy and purpose, even in the face of adversity.

Beyond her personal journey, Fitz has changed lives through her Morning Mile program, which helps students across the country develop healthy habits and a love for movement. The same students she inspired through fitness gave her the strength to fight cancer head-on, proving that the support we give to others often comes back when we need it most.

Her journey will inspire you, challenge you, and remind you that no matter the obstacles, we are all capable of doing hard things. In this conversation, Fitz shares her battle, her lessons, and the unwavering mindset that kept her moving forward, because just like Fitz, we can all do hard things!
