I’m sure you all know that exercise burns calories during your workout. How hard you work, and what you do both factor into how many calories you burn during each sweat session. However, have you ever thought about burning some extra calories AFTER your workout? It can be done! Certain exercises continue to burn calories all day – even at rest. So how about adding them into your routine?
- High Intensity Interval Training. Since you use so much energy during this workout, it basically kicks your fat-burning into overdrive. That means, after you are done with your exercise, you continue to burn fat and calories.
- Strength Training. Lifting weights is an anaerobic exercise, which also aids in an effective after-burn. Weight training builds strong bones and muscles, which allows you to burn more at rest.
- Spinning. The biggest muscles burn the most calories. During spinning, the main muscles you utilize are your legs. Your quadriceps and hamstrings are two of the biggest muscles in the body, so using them for an hour straight along with cardio, is sure to leave you with an effective after-burn.
- Crossfit. Crossfit is a mixture of high intensity cardio and weight lifting, so it’s no surprise that you will burn calories after the exercise as well as during.
The more energy you expend during an exercise, the more likely you’ll be to keep your body’s fat-burner revved up the entire day.
Do you incorporate any of these exercises into your routine?
