Here at Fitzness, we talk a lot about how important it is to keep your skin looking healthy and clean. With recommendations on things like facial cleansers, moisturizers, and exfoliates, we strongly believe that cleansing products help you achieve this healthy look. Keeping your actual skin clean is important, but what about the other objects that touch your face on a daily basis? These items accumulate dirt and grime, just like your skin. Towels and wash cloths are an obvious item we tend to keep clean on a regular basis, but few people think to clean their makeup brushes. Brushes retain dirt and grime just sitting in you makeup bag, being transported around when you travel, or by someone sneaking a quick touch-up with your brushes.
So instead of pretending that your brushes aren’t dirty, or spending money on expensive cleaning kits, try this super simple Do It Yourself cleaning solution! It won’t break the bank and it will leave your makeup brushes sanitized, properly cleansed, and germ-free!
You Will Need:
Original Dawn Dish Soap
Distilled White Vinegar
Water
Glass Measuring Cup That Holds 2 Cups
Towel
- Mix 2/3 cup of white vinegar with ½ teaspoon of Dawn Dish Soap in the glass measuring cup. Fill the rest of the measuring cup (all the way to the 2 cup line) with hot water.
- Place your makeup bushes, brush down, in the solution and allow them to soak for about 5 minutes. After soaking, rinse the brushes in the sink under cold running water. Keep rinsing until the water runs clear. Place the brushes on a towel and allow them to air-dry. After the brushes are dry, your makeup brushes are clean and will look like new!
- For healthy skin and good hygiene, clean your makeup utensils about every 2-3 weeks. You can feel confident when you put on makeup that your face will be free from dirt and bacteria, leaving your skin looking flawless!
