Why do you do mix up your workouts? I mix up my workouts for stress relief and to stay fit!
How long have you been doing so? For the past year to a year and a half.
Do you compete in any of these activities? I participate in road races and mud runs, but I compete against myself to better my time or finish easier. I rock climb for fun at the rock gym with my husband. My dog and I participate in CPE agility competitions, the true emphasis is on having fun with your dog. I do not compete in pole dancing, this is purely the fun and the challenge. It reminds me a little of when I was a gymnast.
Most challenging aspect of mixing up your workouts: Getting myself out of bed early in the morning (especially on cold days) and finding the energy to go to classes after a long, stressful day at work.
Most fun aspect of mixing up your workouts: Accomplishing goals I have set for myself.
Most rewarding aspect: Feeling great! My asthma bothers me less; I feel that I can move better, my clothes fit better and I can finally do a pull-up!
Who/what inspires you when you’re feeling weak? My husband motivates me to get out of bed early in the morning.
Advice for others who’d like to get started: Find something you like and just do it. Don’t be afraid to try something new.
Your must-have equipment for your various workouts: Comfy clothes and a well cushioned yoga mat. For agility: your doggie!
Favorite training song: Anything with a good beat!
Favorite healthy food: I love fruit, especially with a lime-honey yogurt dip.
Favorite not-so-healthy food: Anything chocolate!
Funniest /weirdest/most awkward experience mixing up your workout: Explaining the bruises to my patients and co-workers!
