This turkey burger is perfect for anyone who is looking to indulge in a meal with volume, but less calories. Unlike your typical beef burger, this healthy alternative provides two servings of veggies while leaving out the grease! The ingredients are pure and simple, leaving you feeling satisfied and 100% guilt free. Plus, it is super quick and easy to prepare.

Preparation time: 15 minutes

Cook time: 20 minutes

Number of servings: 4

Ingredients:

16 oz. lean ground turkey

1 cup diced zucchini

1 cup diced mushrooms

¾ cup shredded carrots

¼ cup diced onions

1 tablespoon onion powder

2 teaspoons garlic powder

2 teaspoons coarse black pepper

Salt to taste

*Add a pinch of cayenne pepper for a little kick

Directions:

Finely dice the vegetables and place them in a large bowl. Add the ground turkey and the spices. Mix well using your hands to fully incorporate all of the ingredients. Shape the mix into 4 patties. If some of the veggies fall out, just press the loose veggies on top of the patties.

Lightly oil a skillet using olive or safflower oil and turn the heat to medium/low. Once the pan is hot, place the patties on the pan. Cook each burger until brown and firm, then turn over and repeat on the other side. Each side should take approximately ten minutes. The internal temperature should be 165 degrees when the burger is ready.

Try your burger on a whole-wheat bun with lettuce and tomatoes or in a pita pocket with hummus. You can even try chopping it up into some greens for an easy salad. It’s delicious no matter how you choose to serve it!
