Being on the receiving end of any kind of exercise or sports related injury can be both demoralizing and, of course, painful. Being unable to do your exact favorite activity is definitely a bummer, but most injuries rarely force you to give up  fitness training completely. Often they only force us to be creative! In fact, staying active is usually one of the keys to a healthy recovery.

If you’re experiencing sharp, severe or continuous pain, you should definitely seek out help from  sports medicine physicians who can diagnose your issue. Manual exams, conversations and sometimes scans are required to figure out whether you require physical therapy, surgery or just a little rest and relaxation. Yes, proper medical care may require you to spend some money, but doing so quickly can save you tons of time on the sidelines and may even save you money by putting treatment off and making matters worse.  

Figure Out what Went Wrong
Understanding why you were injured in the first place will go along way to preventing further injuries. Sure, it may be obvious if you slammed your head on to the floor of a skating rink. However, you may have failed to warm up properly or skipped using proper safety equipment. Maybe you’re not doing enough strength training to be able to go hard in your workouts, or you just do your activity too often. When it comes to injuries, prevention is half the battle. Isn’t it better to avoid getting injured in the first place? 

Remember: we work out and place sports to have fun, stay fit and enjoy competition. Prevention and quick care are two of the most important things you can do to stay out of recovery and spend more time making progress.
