Exercise. Some of us love it and some of us don’t. But if you don’t pursue it sooner rather than later, getting started is  something that becomes harder as you get older. You don’t have the same energy you did as a child, but that doesn’t mean fitness is impossible. In fact, TONS of people launch into fitness in their golden years and end up as full marathoners or athletic in other amazong ways. Here are five ways to get fit and enjoy it at the same time. Yes, that is possible!

Trial And Error Some Fitness Classes

Everyone has their preferences, and the same goes for fitness classes. What you enjoy might not necessarily be what your friends enjoy. Therefore, it’s a good idea to shop around. Perhaps the gyms are your preference and attending a weekly spinning class will work for you. Or maybe you prefer to be outdoors, doing a social sport like basketball or tennis. Weight training might be your favorite, or it could be long-distance running. Many people are trying online fitness apps or hiring online trainers. You don’t know until you trial and error, so go and do it!

Find Your Motivation

What’s your motivation to get fit? That’s something you should be asking yourself. Are you doing it for vanity or has your health been impacted by a lack of exercise? Do you want to lose a certain amount or gain more muscle? Are you doing it to motivate your partner, family or friend to do exercise? Finding your motivation is the most important part because it’s what’s going to drive you to reach those milestones in your fitness.

Reject All Diets

Diets are only a temporary solution to the problem, and for the majority of them, you’re eating an amount of food or types of food that you just can’t sustain for a long period of time. Instead, scrap those fad diets and focus more on eating in moderation and enjoy the foods that you want to eat. It’s all about how much you’re putting on your plate and then making sure you work hard if you’ve been more indulgent than usual. Set Realistic And Attainable Goals

With any goals that you set for yourself, it’s important that they’re realistic and attainable. Make them almost impossible and you self sabotage your own motivation and give yourself less of a chance of actually making any progress. So if you’ve currently got a goal to drop three dress sizes or be able to lift a considerable amount of weight in a short space of time, re-assess these goals so that the plans you put in place are achievable.

Switch It Up Every So Often

And lastly, fitness is fun when you find something you love, but it’s worth switching it up every now and then. Do something completely different, whether you try out a unique dance class or test out new strength training equipment. Give your mind and body a bit of variety so that it’s constantly challenging itself. That is what will keep your enjoyment of fitness up in the long run.
