What inspired you to start doing races?
During my weight loss journey, I started walking and decided to sign up for a race.

Do you walk, run or run/walk, swim, cycle, do obstacles?
I mostly walk them with a little jog.

What distances do you do?
Mostly 5ks. Sometimes I do 10ks and Half Marathons.

How many have you done?
I did my 46th race on February 27th.

What do you feel is your greatest race accomplishment?
My half marathon on June 6, 2015.

Favorite race and why?
Biggest Loser, Erie PA: the flattest course in the nation.

Do you travel for races?
Most races I stay local but I travel to Buffalo with my best friend.

Does your race schedule become expensive? How do you afford to make it happen?
Yes, it’s expensive, but so worth it. The race fees mostly go towards a charity. I typically save up the money I earn working.

Under Armour Compression

Weirdest place you’ve ever chafed:
Under my belly, before I had my tummy tuck.

Do you prefer to run in warm weather or cold weather?
It doesn’t matter to me. I like both.

Favorite pre-race meal/snack:
Low-fat cheese sticks.

Weirdest/funniest thing you’ve ever experienced at a race:
I saw these really fast speed walkers and had a good laugh.

Worst experience during a race:
My MP3 player gave out at mile nine.

Most awesome moment you’ve ever had at a race:
Crossing the finish line during a half marathon. What an accomplishment for myself!

Your favorite part of participating in races:
The support you get during races, especially at the finish line.

Do you wear costumes? If so, what’s been your favorite?
I don’t wear costumes.

How important are awesome medals to you?
I love the medals!

Pittsburgh Pirates 5k and The Biggest Loser Run Walk Series Half Marathon.

Do you prefer to run alone or with a buddy?
I love running with my best friend, Nadine Sauls.

Who is your race hero and why?
My best friend Nadine Sauls, because she did my first half marathon with me.

What is the top race on your bucket list?
The Erie Marathon, next year on 9/10/2017.

What has been the best physical side effect of your participation in races?
I am now free of Diabetes, Sleep Apnea, and high blood pressure.

Your advice for others who might be intimidated by signing up for a race:
Just sign up and have fun with it!
