The June issue of Men’s Health magazine highlights some famous men who really do their age group justice. Daniel Dae Kim, 43, is what the issue refers to as “Hawaii 5-0’s” master of middle-age. I have to strongly disagree. In my book, any age that begins with the number “4” does not qualify as middle-aged. Daniel’s looking good though, and this is what he has to say about it.
On fitness after 40: “Once I hit 40, certain activities that were a given for me now take extra work. So I’ve learned how to compensate.”
On his role model, Seattle Mariner Ichiro Suzuki: “He’s obsessively stretching before every at-bat. To prime your muscles to work at peak efficiency at any time, that’s a great idea.”
On feeling good at any age: “When I’m playing tennis or golf, it’s no fun to always be thinking of the good old days. It’s just fun to be out there. This thought lets me enjoy the sport I’m playing.”
On maintaining his physique: “I’ve found that it’s important to do 30 minutes every day, as opposed to a 2-hour workout one day followed by a day or two off.”
