If you’re carrying a little or a lot of belly fat around, you’ll want to lose it for both your health and confidence. Some people are turning to the local plastic surgery directory to get that quick fix of losing belly fat. Carrying the extra weight around the waist can put a strain on your heart and increases your chances of having a heart attack. Simple efforts can make a huge difference. For example, if you are a beer drinker, then it is time to stop! There really is such a thing as a beer belly, and you will find your belly shrinks pretty quickly after you quit drinking.

Of course, the safest way to lose belly fat is through healthy eating and exercise. Ditching junk foods and fast foods which are full of fat and calories is your first step. The next is to seek out natural foods which are in high fiber and other nutrients like produce, whole grains, lean proteins and lean dairy products. The other critical factor will be your level of commitment, belly fat does not just drop off. Eat wisely, exercise often and stay focused; losing belly fat will take some time but will be worth it in the end.

Some people who aren’t successful with their eating and exercise efforts turn to liposuction. This can be expensive, and like with any surgery … there is risk involved. In this type of procedure, the doctor will make a small incision in the skin to insert a small tube. This small tube is then attached to a machine which sucks out the body fat. Normally the surgeon will provide patients with a local or general anesthesia before starting the surgery. There are two common techniques for liposuction: the first is called Tumescent. With this type, the surgeon cuts into the skin, injects a large amount of fluid that contains anesthetic and the drug epinephrine to reduce pain and blood loss. The second option is Ultra-Sound Assisted; this generates sounds that liquify fat before it is sucked out. After having this procedure done, patients experience bruising, swelling, numbness, discomfort, and some pain. This procedure is not recommended for people with health problems, but is ideal if you are in good physical health.

Even with all of the advancements with technology and medical procedures to eliminate unwanted fat, the best results still yield from a change in lifestyle. Engaging in a regular fitness routine and eating in a more  healthy way will change more than just your figure. It will effect your mind, energy levels and ability to manage stress.
