Thanks so much to Jack Lalanne, who pioneered an industry which has become my passion – my profession. Jack understood the benefits of creating a strong fit body and fueling it wisely decades before anyone else took the topic seriously. He was an educator, motivator and inspiration to millions of people who as a result, lived far better and longer because of Jack. Jack died in his home yesterday, January 23, 2011; he was 96 years young. He was surrounded by family and his beloved wife Elaine or “Lala” as he called her.

I had the great honor of interviewing my hero Jack and Lala in October of 2009. Jack was funny, smart and still barking the benefits of eating right and exercising. He also spent some time telling me how much he loved Lala, breaking in to a sweet song to woo is lovely lady – I was touched.  I’ve always been grateful for Jack’s pioneering ways and wish him a wonderful workout in the sky. I can only hope to have nearly as profound an effect as Jack has had on the world.  View my 2009 in interview with Jack here. He’ll be missed.
