Ahhhh yes. The never-ending eating bar so many people refer to as the “trough“. The all-you-can-eat buffet is often completely abused leaving the diner guilty, bloated and unsurprisingly … a pound or two heavier. Yes! You can actually gain a pound in one meal! This doesn’t have to be you though, and the secret is all in your mindset. You are NEVER going to “get your money’s worth”, so don’t even try.
Instead of trying to pull one over on the foolish restaurant or cruise ship who dared to offer you an endless amount of food, practice both smart and slim strategy.
Use the all-you-can-eat buffet to enjoy a unique opportunity for variety. Instead of just a single meat meal, enjoy small portions of shrimp AND roast turkey. Woohoo, right? Where else will you find that combination? Choose a variety of healthy veggies, fruit or salad to with your protein and vow not to use more than one plate.
Don’t gorge. Don’t take part in gluttony. You are there to have a nice meal, refuel your body and replenish energy. I’ll repeat: You will NEVER eat your money’s worth, so don’t even try. Enjoy the variety a buffet has to offer, stick to one plate and leave with your pants still buttoned.
