Hot on the heels of college basketball season, we have all undoubtedly seen the phenomenal shape of cheerleaders alongside the court. However, when most people hear the words “cheerleading practice” they think of a team learning catchy cheers and waving around their pompoms and megaphones. However, cheerleaders on the college level train like many of the other division one athletes we are so fond of watching on the sidelines.

The following is a sample workout from the University of Florida cheer team. This workout is completed by both the men and women of the squad. See if you have what it takes!

 

Modified Catastrophe

Half mile run – fast

100 Walking lunges

90 sit-ups

80 squats

70 push-ups

60 kettle bell front swings  50 lbs. (guys) 30 lbs. (girls)

50 pull-ups

40 box jumps

30 burpees

20 toes to bar

10 flights of stairs (up and down at a walking pace)
