Waking up early is tough for many people including myself, which makes the thought of waking up and working out that much more difficult to consider.  However, starting your day off with even a light workout instead of just drinking a few cups of coffee helps you in a variety of ways both mentally and physically.

Physical Benefits

Working out in the morning allows you to squeeze exercise in before your scheduling conflicts being; it’s an easy time to keep your training commitment without anything else getting in the way. Waking up a bit early may be hard at first, but you’ll eventually acclimate to that earlier wake up call start each day naturally energized.  Early morning workouts can also boost your metabolism and regulate your appetite throughout the day.  Studies have shown that people are more conscious of how they eat after exercise, so  beginning the day this way sets you up for success.

Mental Benefits

Instead of drinking coffee, going for a run or engaging in other exercises in the morning has been shown to provide increased mental clarity for  four to 10 hours!  Imagine how much more productive you’d become each day with this kind of boost.  Beyond helping you focus, exercise provides you with a sense of accomplishment and fills you with the motivation required to kill it at work.   An early exercise-induced endorphin rush provides the energy boost, stress release and kickstart to each work day we’d all like to have.

Tomorrow, instead of hitting the snooze button five times, plan to wake up and do some sweaty work before the rest of your day takes hold.
