If you’re looking for a sweet treat that will actually satisfy both your rumbly tummy and conscience, then you should consider the following new choices!
Wings of Nature offers a line of nutritious snack bars which are high protein, gluuten free, trans fat free, and free of refined sugars. I’ve tried each of three flavors and thought they were pretty tasty; Expresso Coffee, Cranberry Crunch and Almond Raisin were all quite enjoyable. The only caviet with these bars is that they are high in fat. Yes, it’s the good kind of fat found in seeds and nuts, but it’s each bar is still comprised of at least 50% fat. This just means that you should consume them wisely! Instead of gobbling the bars up wrecklessly, choose them as a filling snack when you’ve got a long way to go between meals, are out hiking or even as a wiser dessert compared to chocolate bars. A 24 pack of these bars will cost you $31.99.
Benedetto Chocolates are the first confection ever to be classified as a protein bar. I’ve tried the flavors Mint, Raspberry and Caramel. At first bite, I found the texture a little weird (cause it’s protein), but I quickly got used to it and enjoyed each flavor. Just like some folks learn to like the taste of diet sodas, these chocolates are kind of worth the effort. They pack around 122 calories for five decent sized pieces and only about 26 of those calories come from fat. The main benefit to these chocolate treats is that the protein content will fill you up and keep you far more satisfied than your average chocolate product would. The downside? Price! Three boxes with five pieces of chocolate in them will cost you $17.95. If the price is not an issue for you, I recommend giving them a try!
