As a  heart-throb and actor, Channing Tatum has made a big name for himself in Hollywood. He stole moviegoer’s heart in the romantic film The Vow and had women falling off their seats in Magic Mike. His latest roles in G.I. Joe Retaliation and White House Down shows a buff Tatum kicking butt. The burning question on everyone’s mind is how does he earn that body?  Would you be surprised to know that his workouts only last about 30-45 minutes? Here are some of Tatum’s simple 5-minute exercises , that you can try at home (popworkouts.com).

Jumping Rope (100 Skips)

Yep, that’s right. Jumping rope is not just for kids.  When done effectively, jumping rope is a great calorie burner. According to WedMd, jumping rope for just 15-20 minutes will burn off the calories from a candy bar.  You’d have to run an eight-minute mile to work off more calories than you’d burn jumping rope. It’s also a great way to improve the muscle tone in your lower body. Channing said, “I want to be the best athlete I can possibly be. When I look at the NFL or the NBA, those guys are how I want to look. Usable, functional muscles. I don’t workout just because I want my chest bigger, or because I want to get huge arms” (pop workouts).

Benefits of Jump Rope Fitness (Fitday.com)

*Weight loss: Jumping rope for 30 minutes will produce a caloric burn of approximately 300 calories. In order to lose one pound per week, you must jump rope for thirty minutes every day and cut out 400 calories from your diet.

* Increased cardiovascular fitness: Improved cardiovascular health means you will not only have a greater ability to perform your daily tasks, but you will become less breathless during exercise as well.

* Muscle Tone: Exercising with a jump rope is a great way to improve the muscle tone in your lower body. After the first day of jumping rope, you may experience some soreness in your legs…these microtears will eventually heal themselves in a few days. Your muscles will be STRONGER, and MORE TONED than when you started the exercise.

Push ups (25 reps)

The last push is always the hardest! Sometimes we want to lay flat on the ground and pass out. But, guess what? The time and energy that goes into push ups is definitely worth the effort.

Benefits of pushups (LiveStrong)

*Upper body conditioning: Doing pushups on a regular basis will strengthen, tone and build your  pectoralis major, anterior deltoids and triceps. These muscles are located on your chest, front of your shoulders and back of your arms, respectively.

*Core Strength:  Although primarily considered an upper body exercise, pushups also strengthen your core muscles.

*Increased Bone Mass– Performing weight-bearing exercises like pushups will strengthen your wrists, forearms, elbows, upper arms and shoulders. They will also help reduce bone loss and promote stronger, more dense bones.

Walking Lunges (25 each leg)

Benefits of walking lunges (Popworkouts)

*It works the quads, hamstrings, calves, glutes and core. Walking lunges are a core part of a lower body routine.

*In the walking lunge, your back leg is carried forward as you move along. After the previous lunge you just move forward for the next repetition. This creates the ‘walking’ lunge motion.

Other celebrities who do walking lunges include Lady Gaga, Eva Longoria, Jay-Z, Beyonce and Jennifer Lawrence (from Hunger Games).

The combination of jumping rope, push-ups and lunges make for a really well-rounded and intense workout. Want a body like Channing Tatum? Give this combo a go!
