I’m commonly asked why I work with celebrities, and although it’s a semi-funny question … here’s my completely straight up answer. Our world is obsessed with celebrities. Although, I am not, it’s inarguable that there is something incredibly valuable to their fame. Long ago I had a revelation and this was it : If you put me with all of my very vast and very impressive fitness expert credentials on a stage with Beyonce – and the crowd wanted to know how to get a great butt – they’d ask her and not me. So, instead of being furious about that reality, I decided to make it work. Or … I decided to allow the celebrities to do the work for me. You see, because they’re in a very appearance-oriented profession … they almost HAVE to stay fit. Their livelihoods depend on it.
I’ve worked with hundreds of celebrities and fortunately, they’ve almost all done what I’ve hoped they would do.
- They talk about how un-fun it was to be unfit.
- They confess to trying diets, pills, shakes and other dumb stuff with no success.
- They reveal that when they finally committed to eating wisely and exercising, amazing results followed.
Mission accomplished for me. The fact is, you’re interested in these people and their efforts serve as great inspiration and entertainment. It’s a win-win all around. Some of my favorite well-known faces I’ve had the chance to talk fitness or workout with have been Brooke Shields, ESPN analyst Kirk Herbstreit, The Wiggles (MY Wiggles), Vanessa Williams, dozens of Olympians, Bear Grylls, Colin Egglesfield and more. It’s truly hard to choose favorites, but some have genuinely stood out. I have had some hilarious, inspiring and embarrassing moments along the way and I plan to share them with you soon. In the meantime, you can view or read many of those interviews in our category Celebrity Fitzness Interviews. More to come!
