How much weight have you lost? 60 pounds.
How did you lose it? To lose weight, I had to make a complete lifestyle change. I started with my diet. I previously had no vegetables in my diet, and went heavy on carbs and protein. I switched to basically the complete opposite, consuming mainly fruits and vegetables throughout the day with low carb and protein intake. I also found the time for three workouts a day, which included a lifting segment, a long distance cardio segment, and a shorter interval cardio workout.
Why did you lose weight? After looking at pictures from a spring break cruise that I took with my friends this year, I decided that I really needed to change my life in general, which included a weight loss. It was an eye-opening experience.
How long did it take? About 5 months
What was the hardest part? Sticking to the goals I had set for myself with diet and exercise. My first workout began at 4:30 AM, which was pretty early for me when I didn’t get home and in bed till 11 PM.
Most fun part of your weight loss? Definitely my unconventional form of cardio, which included going out with friends to a country club and line dancing.
Most rewarding experience? The support and encouragement that I received from my friends and family during the hardest times of my weight-loss really kept me on track.
Who/what inspires you when you feel like quitting? This may sound cheesy, but I am inspired to trudge on with my workouts when I feel like quitting because I know that by making this life change and staying healthy, I may live longer. And when I am old, I will hopefully have the ability to interact with my future kids and grandkids.
How has this weight loss changed you life? I feel like I have more energy in the day to make it through and my need to continue working out keeps me driven to get past the rough spots.
Have advice for others who’d like to lose weight? There are a lot of different workouts and lifts that can be done to lose weight…so don’t get lost in trying to plan the perfect workout schedule. Just get out there and exercise. Do something and move, the weight loss will come after and the people you meet will influence the workouts you do in positive ways to make them more challenging.
