Team LUNA Chix consists of 280 women and 29 teams nationwide that work to support and inspire each other and women everywhere to get outside and exercise. They’ve created a top five list for smart cycling which will serve you well if you plan to saddle up this summer!

5 Tips all bikers should know:

  1. Get the right gear – Finding shorts with the right padding and jerseys with the right ventilation is key to having a successful and enjoyable ride.
  2. Pack smart tools– Make sure you bring tools and gear as safety precaution. The LUNA Chix usually carry a spare tube, patch kit, multi tool (Park Tool Rescue Wrench), tire levers and an air pump.
  3. Fuel up – Eating before and after a ride is important, but make sure you pack snacks that will provide fuel for your body and keep you from getting hungry.
  4. Check before you ride – Always check tire pressure and brakes.  If you have an extra minute, go over the handlebars, seat post, frame and wheels for potential cracks and shimmies. 
  5. Rest up – Allowing your body time to rest and take in your first few rides of the season is important; try to prioritize at least 8 hours or more of sleep and maybe even a nap to store up energy.
