Why do you do run? Personal fitness, weight lossand stress reduction. I’ve lost 110 pounds; they are never to be found again!
How long have you been running? Two years
Do you compete? I do compete at the local 5k level, competing in the women’s 45-50 category.
Most challenging aspect of running: To run no matter what the weather or life pressures.
Most fun aspect: Being outside enjoying my surroundings and pushing my body to the next level of fitness.
Most rewarding part: Knowing that I no longer have to be treated for Type 2 Diabetes and have been taken off many different medicines.
Who/what inspires you when you’re feeling weak? My 16 yr old daughter is my number one accountability partner in the area of healthy eating and exercise. My husband, because of how supportive he is with my running/races, and my Facebook family “The Magic Milers”, because they are out there pounding the pavement daily as well.
Advice for others who’d like to get started: Don’t listen to the negative voices in your head that tell you, “you can’t do it!”, “everyone is looking at you and laughing!” or “why start, you will never stick to it, you have done this time and time again!”
Your must-have equipment: A snug-fitting fuel and hydration belt, a comfortable pair of running shoes, and cool runner-girl sunglasses.
Favorite training song: I don’t listen to music while running. I have found that the sights and sounds around me, make a beautiful rhythmic music.
Favorite healthy food: Beans and rice.

Favorite not-so-healthy food: Chips
