In life and in general, people have generalized that bigger is better. Size does matter with most things such as diamonds, cars, homes, wallets and more. Size also matters with the portions we eat, but if you’re in to weight management … bigger is definitely NOT better. When it comes to plate sizes, you’ll make your life easier by choosing a smaller plate.
- A standard dinner plate is 12 inches in diameter.
- A smaller plate can be 9 inches or less
Filling up a smaller plate ensures smaller portions matter what! Cutting out three inches or more of pasta, stuffing, gravy, meat etc…, could definitely slash 500 calories without any effort at all. That’s 3 inches of less food! If your home is full of large plates, start by purchasing and using smaller paper plates. Keep track of the number on your scale to see how this is working for you. If it does, next month you may want to shop for a smaller addition to your dishes!
