“Stressed spelled backwards is desserts.  Coincidence?  I think not! “ ~Author Unknown

When you are stressed, work out! It is a proven method of relieving stress because physical activity releases endorphins (neurotransmitters that make you feel good) in your brain. In addition, you’ll be happy you chose to work your shoes and not your fork.

“The biggest seller is cookbooks and the second is diet books – how not to eat what you’ve just learned how to cook.”  ~Andy Rooney

“Food is like sex:  when you abstain, even the worst stuff begins to look good.” ~Beth McCollister

I don’t diet. I just don’t eat as much as I’d like to.”

– Linda Evangelista, Supermodel

Let’s not pretend that great recipes that won’t add pounds aren’t falling from the sky. There are hundreds of books and websites to choose from. We offer options of our own like these recipes or The Everything Flat Belly Cookbook: 300 Quick and Easy Recipes to help drop the belly fat and tone your abs, by Fitz Koehler. You don’t have to abstain from great-tasting food. Eat enough of the good-for-you food stuff and you won’t be hungry for the bad.

“People say that losing weight is no walk in the park.  When I hear that I think, yeah, that’s the problem.” ~Chris Adams

Losing weight isn’t always easy, but a walk is … and it can help you to lose weight. You can even include your family and pets. A walk in the park is more engaging physically and socially than movie night and it will instill good habits in your family.

“Happiness lies, first of all, in health.” –George William Curtis

Happiness can come from many sources, but being healthy is always going to be a strong source of joy. If  you know that you are healthy, you will be more confident about your own abilities and you won’t worry as much about how others see you. Plus, you’ll have peace of mind knowing that you are doing everything you can to live a long life and experience all the happy moments that come along for you and your family.

“The second day of a diet is always easier than the first. By the second day you’re off it.”
– Jackie Gleason

No, no, no… The second day is easier because you’ve already made the choice to start, all you have to do is stick with the plan and follow through.

“Eating smart is all about having an awareness of your body. The most obvious way to do that is by seeing it. So when you’re trying to lose weight, spend more time wearing less. I don’t think I could eat a plate of nachos naked – could you?” – Marissa Miller, Model

Marissa brings up a good point. If you’re trying to not only live healthy but get your body in great shape, spend time looking at your body.  Running may burn calories but you may also need to target your abs with specific workouts to get rid of that belly fat; same with your thighs or butt. Look at yourself in the mirror without clothes then formulate a plan to target the areas you want to see extra improvement for.

“It’s not a diet, it’s a way of life that teaches you better skills. For years, I felt like I could never have ice cream, but now I can eat ice cream occasionally!” – Jennifer Hudson

Exactly. The phrase,  “Going on a diet” has the connotation of being a temporary or sudden change in the way you eat in order to look/feel a certain way. Instead, “live with a better diet.” If you want to see change, change your perspective of how you live. Living with healthy eating habits doesn’t mean you can’t eat cake, ice cream, or cookies; there are plenty of low-fat/carb/sugar options out there that taste great. Just make the decision to enjoy them in moderation!
