Holiday comforts come in many ways, most often relating to cuddling, cocoa, parties, funny sweaters and presents. I love those things too, but as your fancy Fitzness pro … a few other things excite me when the cold crisp air blows in. I am, of course, in Florida, so my version of cold is very different than say … the type of cold dealt out in South Dakota. However! Our cold is real and our holidays are too, so it’s still super fun the same. If you’re uber fit or on a mission to become so, I encourage you to find “new” comforts this holiday season and see how well you end up this coming February.

My first bit of holiday excitement comes as I use the crisp cold air to energize my runs as my dog, Piper, and I tour the houses lit up for Christmas. Sure, she barks her little doggie brains out as we pass by an inflatable which yields The Grinch popping out of a fluffy chimney, but that’s all part of the fun. This experience is so nice, I usually leave my mp3 player at home, but bringing it and cranking up the “Jingle Bells” isn’t such a bad idea either. Sure, you can call these runs “hard work”, but the festive decorations combined with friendly faces actually do qualify as “comfortable”. Perception is everything!

When it’s just too yucky to go outside at all, the kids, my husband and I use our fancy pants Wii to stay active inside. Sure, the Wii Fit and Wii Sports do the job, but not much compares to all four of us busting silly moves to our “Just Dance” game. It’s ridiculously fun while getting our hearts pumping. I used to be opposed to bringing video games in to our home, but I’ve since become a convert and I will definitely enjoy the comforts of our Wii when Old Man Winter tells us to stay in!

When we’re not huffing, puffing, dancing and laughing we do make time for the snuggles. In fact, I’m counting the days until we all cuddle up in my bed to watch The Polar Express with some air-popped popcorn (mixed with raisins) and some hot tea. To me, nothing is more “comfortable” than having both of my baby’s heads on my tummy for a heartwarming holiday story. This year, I hope you’ll also find comfort in active festive fun. Enjoy the cuddles and snuggles too, but find opportunities to enjoy the weather, the decorations and more while pursuing your fitness goals. Maybe our combined efforts will even inspire Santa to get moving too!

Comfort is the perfect gift for everyone on your holiday gift list, so be sure to take advantage of  Tempur-Pedic’s Buy 2, get 1 free pillow offer! I was selected for this sponsorship by the Clever Girls Collective.
