Shockingly Healthy FAST Food in your Car

My salad kit, bowl and steering wheel.

The notion that eating on the go in an economical way has to include unhealthy, fattening, junk food is … crap. Pure crap! Sorry to be crass, but it’s just an old obsolete concept that simply isn’t accurate anymore. Not only have 99% of the typical fast food joints decided to load up their menus with at least a few healthy options, but our society’s level of fitness savvy and aspirations for a healthy life has made our level of commitment to eating wisely soar. This brings me to the easiest, healthiest meal I ever ate in a hurry … in my car.

Late last night, after running all day and waiting for my cutie patootie daughter to finish up a Girl Scout meeting, my hungry belly started to growl. With few options around, I ran in to a nearby grocery store, Publix, bought a bagged salad kit  … and enjoyed a delicious healthy meal in my car. (I happened to have a clean bowl in my car.) The grand total for this meal (including the bowl)? $2.99. Nice, right? I literally DUMPED the bag in to the bowl, drizzled a little bit of the dressing on top and enjoyed! Easy? Yep. Cheap? Absolutely. Fast? Couldn’t be faster! So, while sitting in my car I decided this could be a teaching moment and photographed the food on my lap. **For the record, my car was parked in a safe well-lit lot while I ate.

If this type of fast food is for you, you may want to keep a couple of containers in your car, a few plastic utensils and napkins too. You can also just grab this stuff on the go as well. Where there is a will, there is a way! If you’re dedicated to eating healthy food or are in the process of losing weight … don’t settle for less! Don’t let excuses and cravings be the reason you fail. Fitness is simple and this silly salad is proof! Do you have a smarty pants fast food idea too? Please share!

Fast food we all can feel good about.
